El Paso Specialty Hospital names Irene Chavez as New Administrator
June 2009
Irene Chavez has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of El Paso Specialty Hospital, which is operated as a
partnership between El Paso Orthopedic Surgery Group and National Surgical Hospitals, Inc. headquartered in Chicago.
Mrs. Chavez joins El Paso Specialty Hospital with more than fifteen years experience in Health Care Administration.
Chavez previously worked as Chief Executive Officer at Providence Memorial Hospital. Prior to that, she was the
Chief Operating Officer for five years and the Chief Development Officer for seven years at Providence.
Chavez earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and secondary education from the University of Texas at
El Paso; and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. On the civic front, Chavez is a board member of the
Workforce Solutions Board, Advisory Board Member for the Socorro Independent School District Board Oversight, and SISD Foundation Board Member.
Irene states that she is "committed to delivering a marvelous patient and family care experience that includes exceptional quality and warmth" and says that in order to accomplish that level of care she is "committed to providing the El Paso Specialty Hospital staff with excellent tools, equipment, training and motivation."
